Week 8- Photoshop (frame and text)

For these three Photoshop pieces I used a subtle main hue combination (red and blue) to create "pop" images that include a frame cutout and text. Red and blue are just about tertiary colors, which means that they create a more subtle combination than complimentary hues. The solid red layer is not excessively saturated which makes is somewhat dull. The blue pop hue does create focal points, but they are as noticeable as last weeks assignment because the blue has a darker value level. I used a generic blue to create the frame cutout to show variation in the blue hue, but to maintain a subtle approach. I created a little more pop by using red text that has a lighter value and higher saturation level. All these factors make these pieces unexpected and interesting.

Week 7- Photoshop

These first three pieces are different versions the of 1 photo that use different points of focus. The solid color is blue and the "pop" color is orange. These hues are complimentary which gives them even more of a pop. I did a "super pop" in the third piece by adding in some white so that the pop area stands out even more.

These three pieces are three different pictures that focus on one thing. I used hues that are either complimentary, or close to it, to create extra pop. In the last piece the focus (the water bottle) even has different levels of focus within it. The lid area pops the most and the water creates different values throughout.

For my transformation piece I chose to do a frozen pizza before, during, and after being cooked. I usually complimentary and tertiary hues compared to the solid background color (green). Red is complimentary and yellow is tertiary to green. This shows that pop is created by hue as well as saturation.

Week 6- Lighting Pictures

For my photos I used control of lighting to create various shades throughout each piece. This allows each photo to have various saturation and value level possibilities. These levels will be more prominent when they are changed to black and white. The lighter spots on each picture will make good areas to create "pop" when they are edited using Photoshop. The shading should also create various saturation levels (from dull to vivid) within the main solid hue that will be used. To start that hue will be black and white. Controlled lighting allows one to create several variations while using similar hues that make each piece unique and eye catching.

Week 5- Color Combo Drawings

I chose to use purple as my hue from my given drawing in class. This is a drawing of a cell  phone using a colored pencil. It is monochromatic because purple is the only color present. I used several shades to give the drawing value. I used dark purple to depict the heavier parts of what I saw  and a lighter purple to depict the light parts.

I used chalk pastels in this drawing of a sky. My first drawing was a direct representation of a cell phone. This one, however, is more loosely formed. I wanted the viewer to be able to tell what it was, without it actually being directly similar to what one would imagine. I used  both complimentary (purple and yellow) and tertiary colors (purple  and red) to form this piece. The colors don't match a normal sky, but give a different perspective that looks pretty cool.

This somewhat random drawing was made using markers. I used tertiary colors (purple and red) to create a piece that has some controlled, but random direction to it.  The curved line are all over the place, but can be traced to a flow that leads the eyes. The two dots in the middle of the page are suppose to represent eyes (one normal and one mad). These show the confusion of the piece.

I used a purple marker to draw this monochromatic drawing. It is made up of free hand geometric lines. It is pleasing to the eye and is patterned throughout. Different line and shapes lead the viewers eyes all over the piece because each little section is completely unique.

I used markers to draw this representational piece. Complimentary hues (purple and yellow) were used to depict objects that are not normally those colors. One can see what the drawing is of, but it is somewhat confusing because the colors don't match the objects. However, the colors work well together so it is pleasing to the eye at the same time.
